Canopy Resistor (Fan Speed Control)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 3052W1A002A

This canopy resistor regulates current to a range-hood or canopy fan circuit to help the blower run at the correct speeds. Replacing a failing resistor can restore proper fan speed control and stop intermittent operation. What it does:

  • Controls electrical resistance in the canopy/blower circuit to help regulate fan speeds.
  • Helps prevent the motor from running only on a single speed or from failing to start at selected speeds.
  • Can cause symptoms such as inconsistent fan speeds, no response from speed controls, or occasional fan cutoff.
  • Works with the hood's wiring and control switch to deliver the correct voltage to the fan motor.
What's included: One canopy resistor. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before accessing the canopy or electrical connections.
  • Inspect wiring and connectors for heat damage or corrosion; replace harness or terminals if damaged.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Arcing from the magnetron intermittantly   Peter V. • Georgetown , KY • September 29, 2015

I searched the web and it seemed that many people had a similar problem when gunk got on the waveguide plate/cover. When I removed the cover, one of the plastic latches broke so rather than just trying to clean the plate, I had to order a new one. The new one arrived in just a couple of days, I put the plate on and at least for the last few days, no more arcing. <$10 fix for my over the stove microwave. Read more

Microwave Magnetron
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP53001044

If your microwave runs but won't heat food, the magnetron has likely failed. This high-voltage tube generates microwave energy. Moderate DIY difficulty.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave did not produce heat everything else was fine (lights timer fan etc)   Robert P. • Metairie , LA • November 23, 2014

This was an expensive Maytag over the stove type unit. Removal was easy, just two screws allow it to tip forward and then lift off the wall bracket. 14 screws around the outer shell and it lifts off to expose everything. Basic meter checks show the capacitor, diode, transformer, fuses all good. The ohm meter checks on the magnetron did not clearly show it to be bad, but with the only problem of not making things hot, it was the most likely problem. Ordered the magnetron and diode, very... Screw, Tapping, Truss Head (Single)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 1TTG0402422

This is a truss-head tapping screw used to secure trim, panels, and small assemblies on compatible LG appliances. It provides a low-profile, wide-bearing head that helps hold parts flush and resist pull-through. What it does:

  • Fastens plastic and sheet-metal components where a self-tapping thread is needed
  • Truss head spreads load to prevent damage to soft or thin materials
  • Helps secure control panels, brackets, or trim pieces that require a low-profile head
  • Common replacement when original mounting screws are missing, stripped, or corroded
What's included:
  • One truss-head tapping screw
Install notes:
  • Use the correct screwdriver bit and moderate torque to avoid stripping the screw or workpiece
  • Start threading straight and let the screw form threads without forcing at an angle
  • Disconnect power and follow appliance-specific service safety procedures before working internally
  • Replace any damaged mating threads or clips for a secure fit
