Simply replaced deflector and we are back in business. My gas dryer is OLD, but it still works. As long as I can still find parts for it I will continue to use it. A chat with an appliance parts pro rep said it sounded like a problem with the coils. I gave her the model number of my dryer and she said she'd get with the techs and then get back to me in a day or two. She sent me information on a replacement coil set along with a schematic.
