Damage to this part, particularly the control panel, could prevent the dryer from running or make it difficult to operate the appliance.Unplug the dryer before attempting to install this part. Pull the appliance away from any walls and begin by removing any mounting screws holding the top panel in place. There should be some on the back of the appliance and behind the dryer door. Once the mounting hardware is removed, remove the back panel and disconnect any components secured to the control panel portion. With everything removed, the old top can be lifted and set aside and the new one carefully slid into place.
