Replaced the ice maker. The kit came with everything I needed to replace the ice maker. Parts that did not come with the kit were re-used from the old one. I had to cut down the length of the bar using a Dremel so that it would fit into the channels, it was originally too wide to fit into the fridge. One thing to note, only cut it as wide as the actual fridge; you can get it into the plastic shelf structure by sliding it too much into one side, and then guiding it into the other side. Read more

This is an electromechanical defrost timer that controls the automatic defrost cycle in a refrigerator. It periodically switches the compressor off and activates the defrost heater to melt frost buildup on the evaporator coils. Replace this timer if your refrigerator is not defrosting properly, frost is building up excessively on the back wall of the freezer, or the compressor runs continuously without cycling into defrost mode.
I replaced the Thermostat and Defrost Timer. It was a fairly easy repair other than removing the old Defrost Timer. The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts.
