After removing the cover plate and un plugging the wires. Their are 4 screws that hold the housing to the door. with the housing out, I could see where the pivot rod for the ice door should have been, I then ordered a new housing and ice door seal. Taping up the hole in the freezer while waiting for parts. when the new housing arrived I transferred switches and the light from the old to new. I had to try several times to get the spring in the right place. I used a 6 inch "Quick-Grip" mini bar... Read more
You start by prying off the cover of the water/ice dispenser and remove the wire connectors. You then remove the 4 screws which mount the levers on the fridge, loosen but don't remove the 2 screws that hold the metal retaining covers in place. Remove and replace broken actuator and reassemble. Took less than 5 minutes. Read more
I typed the problem into the internet and the Appliance parts pros came up, after entering the model number and make of the refridgerator with the assistance of on line chat the problem was diagnosed. The part suggested was a new control panel and wiring harness. The order was recieved in less than 2 days from when I ordered it.
