First, I will never, ever make the mistake of unscrewing anything on an appliance while it is still connected to power - what started as a cosmetic fix on the freezer door ended up costing me $340 to fix after I shorted out one of the boards for the dispenser. Ordered a door closer plate and a lower and upper hinge bearing. I was a little concerned when the parts arrived as my refrigerator is a Kenmore and the parts were Frigidaire but thought that Frigidaire makes Kenmores. Also viewed the video instructions and it showed repairing the plate for the freezer door but learned from your Q&A that they are ambidextrous. This 1/4" compression nut and ring is used to connect the water supply line to the water valve inlet. Can be used anywhere a 1/4" compression fitting is needed.
