The Refrigerator Fan Motor is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It circulates chilled air within the main cavity and fresh food compartment to maintain even cooling temperatures for foods. Proper airflow is critical for energy efficiency as well as preserving the freshness and longevity of stored items.
Causes of a bad fan motor include failure of the electrical components or motor bearings over many years of operation. Dust buildup may also slow airflow and result in overworking the motor.
Symptoms of a bad fan motor involve:
- Temperature fluctuations between sections of the refrigerator
- Frost or condensation building up quicker than expected
- Louder buzzing or grinding noises coming from inside the back wall
This genuine GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
