This was a two and half year issue as different things failed at different times. I would get one part, then another would fail. Ultimately, I got to a point where what failed, I hadn't been ordered the part yet. The seal on the freezer door took three bathing's before it plumped up and un-creased. This OEM part is a refrigerator dispenser interface. The dispenser interface is responsible for the main functions of the refrigerator, such as adjusting the temperature settings as well as the other functions that are displayed on the interface. If the refrigerator is no longer cooling efficiently, failing to maintain temperature, dispensing water, or the touchpad is unresponsive, the interface might need to be replaced. Thankfully, replacing this part is not a difficult process.To replace the old interface, make sure that all power to the refrigerator is turned off. Open the refrigerator door and remove the door panel of the interior of the refrigerator. Locate the old control board and remove the wire harnesses that connect to it. Take note of the wire connector's orientation and reinsert the wires to the new board. Snap the new interface back in place and reinstall the inner panel. This genuine replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with General Electric, Hotpoint, and RCA brand refrigerators.

The problem was most likely the evaporator fan motor but it could have been a bad blade, loose parts or bad motor mounts. Hard to tell without taking everything apart and inspecting. Since fridge was 17 years old I decided to order the entire evaporator fan assembly as shown in the parts diagram including fan blade, motor brackets, motor, motor mounts, screws, etc. Getting to the assembly involved removing the ice maker unit plus the entire rear inside of the freezer section. Replaced original (18 yrs.) 1/4" plastic tubing, clamp and grommet (AppliancePartsPros/GE parts) from outlet of ice maker water control valve to ice maker inlet.
