John M Massanutten , VA August 08, 2015 A fin on the plastic auger broke off and needed to be replaced I ordered a replacement auger from AppliancePartsPros.com. Upon receipt of the new auger, I watched the repair video and took the ice crusher apart. I found several other parts that needed to be replaced as well. Once All the parts were received, I again watched the video. The video was not specific enough to show how to reassemble the ice crusher blades and the two types of washers. I found another video on YouTube that walked me through specific details of assembly and everything went back together as it should. My refrigerator is crushing and dispensing ice again. The most difficult part was reassembly of the auger blades and washers. Michelle D Peyton , CO February 01, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator PSS26MSWASS Ice maker was not dispensing ice consistently Ordered the helix and helix lock. Mine was no longer oval on the helix lock and the helix was cracked so the helix would spin freely. My husband repaired last night, it took about 30 minutes after allowing the parts to warm. I recommend taking photos as you go so you know exactly how things go back together, I think that really helped the repair go smoothly and quickly. Dispenses ice like new again! Read More... Rick D Albuquerque , NM August 10, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GSS25KGMCWW Broken crusher cover in ice maker The crusher cover has been broken for some time now. Actually a matter of years. Recently it has started dumping a large quantity of cubes after releasing the dispensing arm wasting dumping excess ice on the floor. I decided to go ahead and order the parts as I'm a DIY person and love to save $$. Quite easy to repair with the exception of disassembly of the Bucket from the housing but there is at least one video with instructions on this step minimizing breaking parts. That was the most time consuming avoiding splitting the plastic (warm it up first is the real secret). Ordered Crusher cover, Auger Nut (original damaged but probably usable) and E-clips. Only frustration was all parts shipped individually arriving on three consecutive days. Once all parts received easy to repair and place back in service. I wish the E-style retaining clips were available individually but now I have 9 spares. :) Remember the Auger nut is a reverse/left hand thread. This is explained in the video instructions for the Crusher cover part. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
