I watched several videos to identify the problem, worn/broken cam riser on bottom door hinge. I ordered parts from AppliancePartsPros.com to replace the cam. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong part due to the pitiful GE door assembly diagram and parts description I was unable to complete the repair. Protective cover for the fresh food compartment temperature sensor in your refrigerator. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to shield the thermistor.

Found on-line troubleshooting guides. Checked motherboard, showed infinite ohms on heater/thermostat circuit. Took apart freezer compartment, found defrost heater element was toast. Got parts from Appliance Part Pros. Use their How-To videos and parts diagrams to replace heater and gasket. Put freezer back together, and refrigerator got cool. Read more
