This washer switch is both the lid lock and lid switch. New mounting bracket replaces older design. Which means in some applications you may need to drill off old design mounting bracket prior to mounting the new lock. If your replacing the 4 wire switch you will need to tape off light switch leads. The light will no longer be used. Instructions included.
I unplugged the power source to the appliance. I unscrewed 2 screws and unplugged the lid switch. I replaced the old switch with the new switch and screwed in the same 2 screws that held the old switch in place and plugged the new lid switch back in under the lid. that's it . I plugged in the washer and started a load of clothes. works just fine. NO HUGE REPAIR BILL. I took 11 year old washer apart, by watching step by step instructional video on this site. Found the problem & order the part (inner tub,shaft & spider). It's a shame you can't just order the spider, because the stainless steel tub & shaft were still perfectly good. Apparently, this is the manufactures way of making money.
