The arm spry snaps back into place. It's designed to only fit one way so you can't put it in upsided down. It twists into place and then locks in with tabs. It takes a little tricky, but look carefully at the parts. Everything snaps into place perfectly. Since the rack pulls out you don't even have to work inside the dishwasher.
