I first tested and replaced the temperature sensor. Since this is a slide-in range, I managed to pull it out just enough to access the back without disconnecting the downdraft and gas line. (For wall models this would not be the case.) Unfortunately, that did not do it. Next I replaced the lower heating element because it was a little below the ohms level it should be at. No go. Broil setting not heating? This upper oven element delivers direct radiant heat for broiling. Easy DIY fix with a screwdriver in under 30 minutes.
Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place.
