Joe D New Berlin , WI March 20, 2019 Appliance: Maytag 30" Modular Gas Downdraft Range JDS9860CDB00 Jenn Air stove JDS9860CDB00 error code 1d11 oven not shutting off. First of all Appliance Parts Pros is the best!! I would not have had the confidence to make this repair myself without their outstanding videos and Q&A sections on their website. And their prices for parts are very competitive. Like many stories on the website, my oven would heat up beyond the temperature set point. When it reached the target temperature, the lower heating element (I think this is the “bake” element) would shutoff, but the top element (“broil” element I believe) would remain on causing the temperature to trip the error message. Common causes were a broken temperature sensor or electronic control board (ECB). The sensor can be tested with an ohm meter, but I chose to purchase both parts as well as a new door gasket before digging into the project. When the parts arrived (which was only 2days), I took out and tested my sensor... it was still at the necessary 1,070 ohm resistance, but I chose to replace it and keep the old one for back up (AAP would have taken the return but I chose to swap out and keep the old one... APP earned that $30 for the videos alone anyway!). Replacement of the ECB was fairly simple (take pics before disconnecting if you’re worried about getting the wires back in the right spot). While doing research I found a few tips to try and prevent the ECB burnout. 1. Minimize heat reaching the ECB (eg don’t broil with door open and make sure your gasket is still making a good seal... hence my reason to replace mine). I also read that using the self cleaning mode for3+ hours could be an issue. I told my wife it’s elbow grease from here on out! 2. Power surges are bad (duh). I tried to find the recommended 2,000 joule (minimum) surge protector for a 240-volt plug, and to this point have not found one. A “whole house” surge protector at your breaker box is an option. 3. Harsh cleaning chemicals making their way to the ECB. I took my time and had the repair done in about 90 minutes (many pics / observations / cleaning / etc), but the job easily could have been done in under an hour. After the repair, I now realize the broil element isn’t even supposed to come on in “normal” bake mode... assume it is used in “rapid pre-heat” mode, so my ECB was definitely toast. Once again, “thank you” to everybody at APP! You guys are the best!! Although I’m hoping to not need replacement parts for any appliances in the future (yeah right wishful thinking), APP now has earned yet another loyal customer. Richard S Camano Island , WA May 19, 2015 Appliance: Model JENN AIR (MAYTAG JDS9860AAP) Burned out oven bake element Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. Reverse the past few steps and re-attach the wires and screw. Simple as that. I also chose to replace the Broiler Element as a precautionary measure following essentially the same procedure (a few more screws). The oven door gasket was old and leaking, so it was also replaced as well. No tools require. Christine C St. Louis , MO June 04, 2016 Appliance: Maytag 30" Gas Slide-In JGS8850BDS17 Jenn air slide in gas range touchpad quit After doing some research online, I saw that to have an appliance repair person come out to fix the touchpad, would cost us well over $500. Some people said they would charge $500 for the part alone. I did a search for the part using our model number and read the reviews on this site and thought we'd give it a try. It was a very easy repair--anyone could do it. You basically remove four side screws and then the screws behind the knobs. Once you pull the front away, there are 4 screws holding the control box on. Unscrew those and unplug the ribbon cable. Then switch fronts, plug the ribbon cable back in and screw everything back. I recommend having 2 people do this--one to hold and one to screw (unscrew). Use a magnetic screw bit because the screws are small and hard to handle. When re-assembling, screw the 4 side screws in first which helps the knob screws line up. Also replace the door gasket. The reason the touch pad goes out is because heat escapes from the door if the door gasket is flattened. A child could replace the door gasket--that easy. That's it! I also thank Youtube for showing me it can be done! Read More... 17 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Scott L Eden , UT December 14, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Self Cleaning Slide-In Electric Range MES5770AAW F1 code with audible beep on maytag electric range Unplugged the oven. Removed the ribbon from the control board. Plugged the oven back in and F1 code with beeping appeared within a minute. Checked resistance of oven temperature sensor which was 1050 ohms at room temperature meeting specifications. Ordered control board and door gasket from APP. Parts arrived quickly, were brand new, and packaged well. Installed parts and so far no F1 code after 4 times using the oven. Note: used smartphone to take photos of wire connections of old control board before removing to aid in installation of new control board since there are many connections to be made.
