I goggled why my microwave would not heat and found an article on Appliance pros of 3 possibilities. 2 easy to fix..so I started with the first one which was the door switches. Followed the instructions and found the switches,removed them, brought them to my local Ace hardware to check connectivity. 2 of the 3 switches where bad. First off this appliance is 16 years old. The replacement machine is no longer made in the color we need, also the new ones rated very poorly. After taking the appliance apart I discovered the high voltage capacitor had been leaking, probably the odor I had been noticing. I had decided in advance to replace as many parts that made sense to restore it as close as possible to its original state. Replacing the turntable motor was very easy. CALLED APPLIANCE PROS,DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM AND THEY IDENTIFIED THE HEATING THERMAL FUSE AS WELL AS ANOTHER POSSIBLE FUSE.THEY TOLD ME WHERE IT WAS LOCATED IN THE MICRO HOUSING COMPARTMENT AS WELL.RECEIVED IT ON A FRIDAY AND CALLED ON A SATURDAY JUST TO BE SURE I DID NOT SWAP OUT THE WRONG ONE.A WOMEN ASSISTED ME THAT KNEW EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT.ITS A NEW WORLD WITH THE INTERNET AND THIS EXPERIENCE WAS A GREAT ONE.
