The door latch key is part of the safety mechanism that secures the microwave door and prevents operation when the door is open. Positioned within the door latch assembly, it requires replacement when the microwave won't start despite the door being properly closed or when error messages appear.

I replaced the stirrer fan cover and fan, which had some carbon and slight burn marks on it. It was difficult to remove the fan cover as it did not rotate. I had to pry it off with a flat blade screwdriver, breaking the plastic tabs on the cover (which was being discarded anyway). I then cleaned any visible carbon deposits and replaced the cover and fan, using the old stirrer fan holder as it appeared OK. We removed the microwave from the built-in cabinet. Remove outer case panels. Removed wires that were attached to the thermostat and magneton. Removed four nuts that held in Magneton and a couple of screws . Removed the old thermostat and placed it on the new magneton. The new thermostat was on backorder at the time of the repair.
