If your cooktop fan won't turn on or off, the fan switch may have failed. This switch controls ventilation fan operation. Moderate DIY repair.

Used non-contact voltage detector on fan motor wires to determine that power was getting past the switch indicating motor was bad not the switch. Was able to easily remove fan by taking off 4 nuts from mounting studs leaving plenum and everything else in place, cut wiring harness close to motor leaving as long as possible wires remaining connected to switch. Saved a lot of time and problems by leaving original harness connected to switch and splicing new harness to old one. The only difficult... Read more

I purchased the repair kit (which includes the element and the two grill grates). It looks wonderful, just like new, and it works beautifully. The only interesting glitch is that with the new element the vent fan does not automatically come on when turned to the on position. Which is no big deal, I just manually turn it on and life is tasty!!! Read more
I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more

Repair was a bit difficult as the appliance was sitting between two cabinets and air handler sit right in the middle of the two cabinets. But over all we managed it, I damaged the blower switch in the process so now I need a Blower switch for the same appliance. Thank you. Manny A. Read more
