This machine screw is an authentic OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is used in securing the burner head to the gas range top so that it can be used for cooking. If the burner head becomes loose or the screw is missing, it should be replaced. For safety reasons, the burner should not be used until this screw is replaced; the burner head could shift during cooking and lead to a fire. To start, disconnect the gas and power from the stove to prevent accidental ignition of the burner. Make sure the burners are not hot. Remove the burner grate and burner cap from the burner that is missing a screw. Install the new screw in the hole and tighten it with a screwdriver. Put the burner cap and burner grate back on the stove and reconnect the gas and power. Periodic inspection of the burner heads and all associated screws and parts on the stovetop will prevent accidents and keep the stove working correctly. This screw is a silver, metal part that is sold individually. It is designed for use in gas rangetops manufactured by General Electric and Hotpoint.
Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. After that initial diagnose, I reassembled the cooktop without the igniters and ordered all the parts I needed. The second stage was... Read more

I decided to replace my igniters because I suspected that they were shorted. Due to my recklessness, I was too hard in taking them off and broke a couple. But with Appliance Pro's recommendations, I moved on to treplacing the switch harness assembly. I have to say that the replacement of the switch harness assembly took no more than 30 seconds. I did some research on my own and then spoke with the “Pros” at Appliance Parts Pros. Both confirmed the main board needed to be changed. The other less likely item was the oven sensor. I changed the sensor first as it was inexpensive. The error codes continued. Subsequently, I then changed the main board which was slightly difficult. When changing 2 screws hold the board in place on each front corner only. Also suggest you take a picture of wiring. I replaced wiring in place from old board to... Read more
