This guard is a molded protective shield that helps keep internal components and wiring safe from contact, debris, and wear. It restores the original barrier and helps maintain safe operation. What it does:
Purchased and installed the proper multi-finger rubber guard. With the metal ring provided with the guard, the installation was very easy and the guard fit exactly into the disposer opening in the kitchen sink. Total time was 3 to 5 minutes total.
