I replaced the magnetron and diode. I don't know if the diode was bad, but since the majority of the work was taking the case apart, I figured it was easier to do it at the same time as the magnetron. The replacement magnetron I received was dented at the emitter end, but seems to work fine. Door hinge receiver for wall ovens. Mounts inside the oven frame to hold the door hinge in place. Replace if cracked, deformed, or causing door alignment issues.
I was able to order new hinge receiver brackets for the door. The repair was not that bad. I just had to take off the lower door, take the two trim pieces off the sides and unscrew the screws holding the oven into the face of the cabinet. Then slide it out about halfway and put a step stool under the front to keep it from tipping over. Oven not heating evenly or convection mode not working? This rear convection element restores even baking and roasting. 20-minute DIY repair.
Whirlpool convection oven. Access to convection element from inside. Three screws to remove plate covering fan blade. Then one screw to remove element bracket. I placed tape over the holes with the wires so they wouldn’t pull back into the panel. Remove old element at tabs and replace. Very easy fix. Studied schematics and watched many on-line videos. Did some electrical checks with VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter). Determined that control panel thermal fuse attached to back of control panel had opened due to high temp. Determined that the upper oven thermal fuse on back of oven had opened due to high temp. I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! The plastic piece on the handle where the screw goes in to hold glass door up had broke. I ordered new handle, the retainer pieces that go over the plastic pieces to lock it all in and screws that were suggested. The screws were the wrong ones. They were way too small. Microwave not heating? This high voltage capacitor works with the magnetron and diode to generate heat. Moderate DIY repair with proper safety precautions.
Replaced the magnetron, capacitor and diode. Symptoms of failure were change in tone/noise put out by the microwave and no heat in the item being microwaved. Could have been a failure of either the diode, capacitor or the magnetron, but I believe it was the magnetron that failed. Replaced all three. The right hand side of the housing needs to be removed to access these parts. Take lots of pictures for reference as it all comes apart, wiring, placement of the various screws, etc. Not an easy...
