Door Lock Motor Switch Assembly
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP9760889

This genuine replacement part is a door lock motor switch assembly for ovens. The door lock motor switch assembly is the part that locks the oven door. The reason it would need to be replaced is if the motor or switch has failed and is no longer able to keep the oven door locked and secured when closed. This can happen due to excessive wear and tear over time. To replace this part, start by unplugging the oven. After that, pull the oven away from the wall and proceed to remove the upper back access panel of the range. Once removed, lift the panel off and locate the lock motor and switch assembly. Disconnect the wires from the motor and switch. Once removed, unthread the two mounting screws that hold the assembly in place. Remove the connection rod. Proceed to install the new switch and motor assembly by reattaching the connection rod and refastening the mounting screws. Reattach the wires to the motor and switch and proceed to reinstall the back panel of the oven. This genuine OEM part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand ovens.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Auto clean safety lock stuck in locked position   Brian S. • St Pauls , NC • January 12, 2015

My appliance is a Whirlpool Accubake Wall Oven, single door. After using the tech sheet and measuring the ohms of the two micro switches that sends signals when the door is shut and locked, determined the lock was faulty. Pretty simple to change, the most difficult part was taking the digital face off of the oven without damaging the control board. TIP: take a picture of the latch switches to ensure you put the correct wires on the correct switch. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken dryer baffles   Ann B. • Bridgeport , NY • September 20, 2014

I am a 78year old woman and 40 years ago I replaced the belt on a dryer but could not even consider such a feat today. I ordered the parts from you on line and also found the video that you very nicely have attached to the site and I saved this under my favorites. The baffles arrived within 3 days and due to my age was unaware that dryers now come in two sizes and the ones I ordered were for the smaller but same model. I worked with a very nice customer service agent on line who got me the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door would not close all the way so the light stayed on   Scott M. • Placerville , CA • July 19, 2016

I was able to order new hinge receiver brackets for the door. The repair was not that bad. I just had to take off the lower door, take the two trim pieces off the sides and unscrew the screws holding the oven into the face of the cabinet. Then slide it out about halfway and put a step stool under the front to keep it from tipping over. Then it was just a matter of taking off everything around the sides until I could take the brackets off, put the new brackets on, and put everything back... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven not heating.   Randy M. • Fort Wayne , IN • September 10, 2019

Whirlpool convection oven. Access to convection element from inside. Three screws to remove plate covering fan blade. Then one screw to remove element bracket. I placed tape over the holes with the wires so they wouldn’t pull back into the panel. Remove old element at tabs and replace. Very easy fix. Removing door to oven made it easier to get to but not necessary. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Upper cooling blower was making loud noise no error code   Raymond M. • Mundelein , IL • February 06, 2016

I have a 10 year old Kitchenaid double oven with warming drawer below and electrical connection is located in cabinet below. I order a service manual from http://www.allrepairmanuals.com. If you have the service manual follow it, it walks a technician thru each step. If you don't have a manual here are a few highlights. Magnetron (Microwave)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP4375424

This microwave magnetron is the RF power tube that creates the microwaves that heat food. Replace it to restore normal heating when the oven runs but food stays cold or warms inconsistently.

  • Generates microwave energy from the high-voltage system to cook food
  • Common fix for: runs but doesn't heat
  • Can help resolve loud humming/buzzing from the high-voltage section
What's included: 1 magnetron Install notes:
  • Unplug the appliance; the high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge—discharge it properly before service
  • Install in the same orientation; tighten mounting screws evenly and reconnect leads securely; avoid touching the ceramic antenna—handle by the frame
  • After reassembly, test with a microwave-safe water load; never operate the oven empty

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave stopped working it made a loud hum and smelled faintly of ozone   Michael L. • Minneapolis , MN • November 30, 2016

I replaced the magnetron and diode. I don't know if the diode was bad, but since the majority of the work was taking the case apart, I figured it was easier to do it at the same time as the magnetron. The replacement magnetron I received was dented at the emitter end, but seems to work fine. It was a bit intimidating to work on a microwave with all the warning stickers on the cabinet, but the replacement went smoothly - the biggest difficulty was determining how to remove the panels of the... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door was difficult to remove and put back on   Steve B. • Greensboro , NC • February 27, 2017

The door hinge latches were bent, which made it difficult to remove the door and re-insert. The door hinge design was changed from a pin insert to a latch from the previous model. Unfortunately, the latch on the 24 inch oven is thin and easily bent, which is likely the source of the problem. I purchased spare door hinges to facilitate re-installing the oven door should I ever have problems with removing and inserting the door again. Read more

Fuse (Time-Delay)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10017410

This time-delay fuse protects the appliance's power circuit by opening when current exceeds a safe level while tolerating brief inrush current. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the root cause is corrected. What it does:

  • Protects the line and control circuits from shorts and overloads
  • Time-delay design helps prevent nuisance opening during startup surges
  • When open, the unit will be completely dead—no display, lights, or response
  • Repeatedly opening usually indicates an unresolved electrical fault that needs diagnosis
What's included:
  • 1 time-delay fuse
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; some appliances can retain dangerous high voltage
  • Replace only with the same type and rating specified by the manufacturer
  • Inspect the fuse holder and wiring for heat damage or loose connections before reassembly
  • If the new fuse opens immediately, stop and diagnose the underlying cause; never bypass or upsize a fuse

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave stated ‘door open’ and would not work.   Margo D. • Tarpley , TX • March 17, 2019

I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! We replaced the fuse, bus fuse, and light bulb (quit working 2 years ago) and all is working. Thanks for the information and for the part diagram. Couldn't have done it without you. Read more

  • Always disconnect the appliance from power before accessing electrical components

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our Whirlpool Accubake system microwave which is part of the cabinet combo stopped heating and the interior light stopped working.   Darnell W. • Uxbridge , MA • October 23, 2021

I love the videos produced by your organization. They may not cover the exact appliance, however, they provide insight into safety and concepts in approaching the job. Disassembly, removing, and replacing the magnetron, capacitor, diode, and light bulb, which took about 3 hrs from start to finish resulted in a working microwave with light. The rep that answer questions and checked my parts prior to ordering was a confidence builder. I never attempted a job like this before. Yet, with... Read more
