I decided to replace the whole orifice instead of just the 'spark plug'. In doing so it became apparent that the screws would not come off easily and so I purchased a couple of those to make sure I had enough just in case. Good thing, 2 were messed up taking them out. It was also pretty dirty after 13 years of cooking so I took the time to clean up most of the bits. It was a difficult thing to do and took me a while to get thru all the screws in correct order to remove the part and... Read more

Replaced the gas regulator and the oven igniter. It was not a very difficult repair.. most of the parts were easy to get to. The biggest challenge was disconnecting the gas hose from the regulator. It had "pipe dope" (sealant) on the threads. I reconnected with yellow gas pipe tape. Read more

Following the instructions that I received through the helpful research of the APP staff, I disconnected the power, disassembled the back of the oven, and accessed the hidden element. This involved bending parts of the sheet metal and cutting the insulation, so I was very apprehensive about doing this. Once I exposed the compartment that contains the element, I had difficulty extracting the old part and was really nervous about pulling hard to extract it - until I saw the damaged element. It... This is a genuine lock nut replacement. This is a general piece of hardware that is often used on several types of lawn and garden equipment, including in engines, housing, and other areas. The exact application of this part will vary based on the unit. The lock nut is used to create a more secure seal than a standard nut. When properly secured, the lock nut tightens to a bolt and uses an extra locking washer with teeth to ensure a snug fit.If lock washers do get damaged or lost, they need to be replaced immediately with a genuine OEM replacement. This model is compatible with all types of machines and units since it is a generic part. The washer is sold as an individual part and manufactured by Whirlpool. Lock nuts will need to be installed using a socket wrench or adjustable wrench. Pliers, a screwdriver, or another socket wrench will be needed to hold the bolt while the lock nut is being secured in place. Be sure to thread the lock nut carefully to ensure a strong seal and avoid stripping the bolt or the nut.

I had to remove the oven door, which I learned is made to come off without tools. Then took out the bottom by removing two screws and lifting. Removed the screws attaching the igniter, pulled wires thru back until I could get the connector and disconnect. When the new igniter arrived, I had to change the connector. I cut the one off the old one, and spliced to the new one using solder and shrink tubing. Just reverse the procedure to install. I replaced the screws with new ones. Read more
