This is a mounting screw used to secure components within a trash compactor. It fastens internal panels, brackets, or mechanical parts in place to ensure stable operation during the compaction cycle. Replace this screw if it is stripped, corroded, or missing, which can cause loose components, rattling noises, or improper compactor function.
Fix a compactor that won't start when the door closes. This actuator switch kit includes a redesigned, more durable switch. DIY install in 30-60 minutes.
Kitchenaid should have supplied this kit to it's customers. The kit is of a much better design than the flimsy original. Fairly easy to install. Read more

This is a stainless steel overlay insert that covers the front control panel area of a trash compactor. This precision thrust race serves as the hardened bearing surface for axial loads in a rotating mechanism. Replacing a worn race reduces friction and noise, helping restore smooth, consistent motion and protect companion thrust bearings and washers from accelerated wear.
I bought new thrust races, a drive gear kit, bearings and a sprocket. When the bearing went out, the thrust races, washers, one bottom plate, and a sprocket was eaten up by the the chain due to the slack being created. I followed the video for the Drive Gear Kit repair and everything went together well. I did have to remove the tracks from inside the compactor in order to remove the cardboard liner that "hides" the drive rods. Additionally, be careful to not over-tension the chain when... Read more
Metal mounting bracket that secures internal components in your trash compactor. Replace if bent, damaged, or missing to restore stable part alignment.
Drive chain connects the motor to the ram mechanism in your trash compactor. Replace if the chain is broken, stretched, or missing to restore compaction function.
Secures and supports internal compactor components to keep panels and assemblies aligned. Replaces worn, damaged, or missing brackets for firm installation.
The compactor failed with the ram down, so the drawer wouldn't open which in turn made the mounting brackets inaccessible. This necessitated sliding a thin oscillating saw blade between the cabinet face frame and the counter top to cut through the brackets. It was then possible to roll the unit out and place it on its side. I removed the five screws holding the bottom pan in place, dropped the pan exposing the gear/chain train. The large gear was cracked from shaft out to the edge. One of... Read more
