Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken spider assembly; aka washer drum shaft assembly   Jeff J. • Los Angeles , CA • November 01, 2015

I followed Matt's awesome video from AppliancePartsPros.com to build up my "I can do this" reserves. But here's the story leading up to that point... We purchased our Samsung WF419 on a “Black Friday” special November 2009 expecting to get some good years out of the washer/dryer pair. We don’t run more than 2 or 3 loads a week in the washer, so ours has had relatively little use over the beginning of its anticipated and expected long life-cycle. When the “thumping” started on the spin cycle a... Read more

The Upper Wash Arm is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for spraying water across the upper rack during the wash cycle to effectively clean dishes. It measures approximately 7.5 inches long by 1.37 inches wide.

Causes of a bad upper wash arm can include mineral or lime scale buildup that clogs the spray nozzles, or damage to the arm itself such as cracks or breaks that compromise its spraying ability.

Symptoms of a bad upper wash arm include:

  • Inadequate cleaning of upper rack dishes
  • Dirty dishes after a cycle
  • Clogged or blocked spray nozzles
  • Visible damage or wear to the arm

This OEM replacement wash arm from Whirlpool is compatible with KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models as well.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The top spray arm in my kitchenaid kuds01flss6 diswhasher fell off into the tub   Russ N. • Baton Rouge , LA • December 04, 2014

The spray arm itself was fine. The problem was with the plastic parts that held it in place. I had to order an entire replacement spray arm assembly to get the small plastic pin and collar I needed. It took a flashlight and some poking around, but I discovered that the arm is held in place by a small plastic pin that drops into place from above. Here's the fix: Gently bend down the flat plastic tube that carries water to the arm so you can reach the pin and pull it up and out, then drop the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The door latch would not catch as a result i was unable to use my dishwasher   Joel C. • Shreveport , LA • January 09, 2016

I ordered the Door Switch Kit, along with a few other items. However, the switch kit was all that was needed. Isimply followed the instructions that came with the kit. It was necessary to cut the wires which connected to the wire assembly in the door of the dishwasher. I then connected the pieces from the switch kit and then connected the end pieces to the door. I closed the door, and started up the dishwasher. It worked as well as before. Read more

Push On Retainer Nut
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP3400931

The Whirlpool push on retainer nut is an OEM replacement part responsible for securing the heating element in the dishwasher. It is located in the base of the dishwasher's tub to hold the heating element firmly in place. Symptoms of a bad push on retainer nut include:

  • Loose or unstable dishwasher components
  • Parts falling off or becoming misaligned
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Difficulty in securing components within the dishwasher

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our dishwasher would not start.   Rory D. • Fairfield , CA • May 18, 2020

A bit of searching on the internet narrowed the problem down to either the heating element or the control board. As I am not much of a diagnostician I decided to replace both. Along this same line, I would never have attempted these repairs if it hadn't been for the clear, easy to understand repair videos provided for each part. Further, my decision to do my own repairs was made easier because the prices of the parts was so reasonable. I took my time, reviewed the videos and replaced the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher drain pump not working   Steve E. • Tampa , FL • January 14, 2015

When the wife told me the dishwasher was leaving water in the bottom of the tub I hoped it'd be that the filter was just clogged. Nope. We usually clean our dishes before cleaning them which always makes me laugh but the drain was clear after 9 years of use, so I figured it was the pump. This was a $200 minimum for the appliance guy to replace, so I thought I'd try and do it myself. Job wasn't too bad. Found a youtube video from another machine than mine which I hoped would help.. these... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You 14 year old kitchenaid dishwasher wasn't filling with water (only partially) had to add water during cycles   William S. • Annapolis , MD • March 27, 2017

Ordered new inlet water valve and float switch kit. After repairs it now works fine. However the water inlet valve outlet end for fill hose (not water source) and wire connections (supposedly for this unit) were oriented 180 degrees opposite. I had to gently remove the blue plastic valve off the metal support bracket and turn it around and press back in place. Fortunately it appears it was designed for either orientation. Also the solenoid had to be unclipped and also rotated. Again it was... Read more
