I ordered a new agitator. I used a Dremel tool to clean up the splines on the agitator drive shaft as best I could as they were pretty well rusted away. I purchased J B Weld with a high psi rating. I slipped a rubber water hose washer over the drive shaft and pushed it down to the bottom of the spline. I liberally coated the splines with the J B Weld. Our Kenmore Series 70 washer no longer spun during the rinse and spin cycle. After scouring the resource on the internet, the lid switch checked out OK, so it boiled down to the wig wag solenoid unit that engages the transmission. The back panel was opened and a check with a multimeter showed one of the solenoids was an open circuit and provided no resistance reading.
