This is a washing machine timer. This part controls the electrical components and the duration of the unit's cycles. If the washing machine unit will not run through the drain or spin cycles, it is possible that the timer has gone bad and will need to be replaced. Some users report the washing machine running through the washing cycle fine until it is time to drain or spin. The replacement steps are fairly easy and can be done quickly. Be sure to unplug the washing machine from its power source before starting the replacement process. Some people may wish to wear work gloves during this process to protect their hands from scratches or other injuries. This specific timer is compatible with washing machines that are manufactured by the Whirlpool brand. It is sourced right from the manufacturer as a high-quality and durable part. It is sold individually.
I replaced the timer, and the problem was solved. The only problem I had was the screw holes in the new timer would not accept the screws from the old timer, so I used self tapping screws. Otherwise, a straightforward fix and fairly easy to do. Read more

This agitator drive shaft sits inside the washer's gearcase and transfers motion to the agitator. Replacing a worn or stripped shaft restores firm engagement and reliable wash action while helping reduce slip and grinding during agitation.
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time. Read more
Used for lid switch.
Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more

Beyond the excellent repair videos, a couple of tips: 1) with the agitator stripped, there is no way to hold the transmission from turning while trying to break loose the agitator screw - defeat the lid switch, set the machine to agitate and work the socket wrench against the motor. 2) the videos call for the use of penetrating oil when trying to free the spanner nut. This won't dissolve the many years worth of laundry detergent. Use vinegar to dissolve the soap first, then use the... Read more

This brake release cam works with the washer's brake assembly to disengage the brake during spin and re-engage it at stop. Replacing a worn cam restores smooth basket spin and reduces squeal or grinding at spin transitions.
First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in... Read more
