First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I found that the balance ring had popped loose from the top of the inner metal tub and had been scored so that the fluid was leaking out. So, I removed the metal shell of the washer, then the top plastic cover over the outer tub. I pulled out the old part and put on the new one. The repair was simple. Having used Appliance Parts Pro in the past for much needed repair parts, I simply unplugged the machine, turned off the water and removed the drain hose and slid unit forward. I then removed the top control panel like last time, tilted the body forward and set it aside.
