The repair sounds easy, doesn't it? It would have been, except that I actually had to do laundry while waiting for the part to arrive. So, I was using a pair of channel locks to turn the exposed bolt/post sticking out in order to turn the washing machine on. In doing so, I actually crushed part of the thread on the bolt, so the starter knob wouldn't screw on! In order to screw on the new starter knob, I had to buy a special nut which rethreaded the bolt. Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more
Ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros - super fast shipping, and even though I opted for regular shipping all of my parts arrived the very next day, including the big and bulky inner basket. Disassembly went smoothly, simply following the directions in the AppliancePartsPros video.
