Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our Maytag gas dryer was not producing heat— specifically it was cycling off after initially lighting   Timothy E. • Bellvue , CO • September 15, 2019

When I pulled out the dryer from the wall, I could see dust/lint had accumulated everywhere and the vent system was compromised. I vacuumed up the dust/lint accumulation outside and then inside the vent system. I then opened the lower cabinet to clean and check its condition. I removed the water steamer bottle and its sub-assembly and then the drum. After cleaning and inspecting components — both visually and with a multi-meter I determined the problem was the appliance doing what it was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Door switch on front loading dryer needed to be replaced   Robert S. • Spring Creek , NV • March 04, 2015

I first unplugged the dryer, lifted the top of the dryer, then removed two screws that hold the front panel to the side panels. I removed the cable clip that holds the wires for the switch to the front panel, and removed the wires from the switch. I then removed the switch from the clip that holds the switch in place. My original switch had only one connection at each end, but the replacement had two at one end and one at the other. The terminals at the one end were labeled NC and NO. I... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Motor failure noisy squealing bearing followed by failure to run buzzing noise when start pressed   Kurt K. • La Center , WA • September 19, 2014

This was a Maytag DE312 actually a Whirlpool labeled as Maytag) and is 27 years old. Replaced motor, drive belt and drum rollers. One tricky part was the motor because the new motor comes with integral starter and it was necessary to cut off existing female spade connectors on some wires and crimp on new connectors. Instructions were adequate but need to be carefully followed and a decent electrical stripping and crimping tool must be at hand. I bought a new motor drive pulley because another... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Double stack dryers one stopped working several months ago and recently the other one started making a lot of noise and the timer would not shut the unit off after contacting numerous local repair   Maury F. • West Bloomfield , MI • March 23, 2015

Deciding I had nothing to lose I decided to tear them apart. After locating the ApplianceParts Pros.com web site I watched videos on the most common problems and took a step by step approach to troubleshooting each of the units. The top one required a fan, shroud cleanup of the guide rollers and other maintenance. The lower unit needed a new motor, timer and clean up of the guide rollers. With the help of your videos and a few hundred dollars worth of parts I now have both units cleaned up... Read more
