This is the door switch only. For the door switch including the mounting clip order LA-1005.
I first unplugged the dryer, lifted the top of the dryer, then removed two screws that hold the front panel to the side panels. I removed the cable clip that holds the wires for the switch to the front panel, and removed the wires from the switch. I then removed the switch from the clip that holds the switch in place. This was a Maytag DE312 actually a Whirlpool labeled as Maytag) and is 27 years old. Replaced motor, drive belt and drum rollers. One tricky part was the motor because the new motor comes with integral starter and it was necessary to cut off existing female spade connectors on some wires and crimp on new connectors. This knob clip secures control knobs to their shafts on your washer's control panel. It prevents knobs from falling off and ensures they stay properly aligned for accurate settings. Replace if control knobs are loose, fall off easily, or don't stay in the selected position.

This start switch initiates your dryer's motor and tumble cycle when you press the start button or turn the control knob. It sends an electrical signal to engage the drive motor and begin the drying process. Replace it if your dryer won't start, starts intermittently, or requires multiple attempts to begin operation.
