Deciding I had nothing to lose I decided to tear them apart. After locating the ApplianceParts Pros.com web site I watched videos on the most common problems and took a step by step approach to troubleshooting each of the units. The top one required a fan, shroud cleanup of the guide rollers and other maintenance. The lower unit needed a new motor, timer and clean up of the guide rollers. This start switch initiates your dryer's motor and tumble cycle when you press the start button or turn the control knob. It sends an electrical signal to engage the drive motor and begin the drying process. Replace it if your dryer won't start, starts intermittently, or requires multiple attempts to begin operation.
New lint screen and felt seal, new blower seal for good measure. The Maycor adhesive is well worth it....appears to be the same as original OEM used. Our machines are over 30 years old, and both work well, so if yours are still serviceable, the wear items [seals, belts, idler bearings] are worth replacing, I think. Read more
