This is a gray plastic cover that fits over the dispenser control module on the front of the refrigerator door. It protects the electronic module behind the dispenser interface and provides a finished appearance. Replace this cover if it is cracked, discolored, or missing, which can leave the dispenser electronics exposed to moisture and damage.
Bought OEM replacement part. The new part had all the retaining clips that had broken off of old part. Needed new stick-on label to dress up the replacement shroud. Hardest part of the repair was disconnecting the wired module on back of old shroud. Feared I might snap off those retaining clips, too! My problem started with a rusting condition in the ice bin that spiraled out of hand. I took apart the ice bin and all the hardware thinking I could clean it with the suggested baking powder.
