Dryer stops early on auto cycle but works on timed? The moisture sensor control board monitors dryness levels. DIY-friendly repair, 15-20 minutes.
Did some research via the internet and figured the problem was likely the moisture control board. Watched a video of the repair of a similar unit in order to locate the moisture control board. Used the chat feature with one of the Appliance Parts Pros to get a schematic of the dryer and advice about where to use the putty knife to release the springs for access to the board. Ordered a kit with new belt, rollers and idler pulley. Used instructions in kit, YouTube videos and instructions I found under the console of the dryer. Found that the idler pulley had frozen and that the belt was nearly worn through. Repair it self was not difficult. The problem I had was in hooking the new belt around the idler pulley. This is a metal spring that attaches to the dryer door hinge and provides tension to hold the door in the closed position. It ensures the door stays securely shut during operation. Replace this spring if the dryer door won't stay closed, swings open on its own, or if the existing spring is stretched, broken, or missing.
