Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. Washer won't start or stops mid-cycle? A damaged lid switch shield can expose wiring to moisture, causing safety interlock failures. Simple fix.
Spin tube assembly with drive spacer, bearing, and shaft seals. Replace if washer leaks from bottom or basket doesn't spin properly. Verify fit.
