Online videos made this seem an easy fix. I unplugged the oven and removed the rear panel, then found where the temp sensor entered the oven. I unplugged the sensor's electric connector. Unlike the videos, this sensor screwed in from the inside of the oven, so I had to remove the 2 screws inside the oven which hold the sensor in place. It was a simple fix. I removed the six screws holding the side panel on the range. Removed the broken parks of the spring. I use a screwdriver to help stretch the new spring into place. I then replaced the side panel and screwed it on. About ten minutes work.

I replaced the controller. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get to it. The video on the website showed access to the control via the rear panel. On the Kitchen Aid we have, the back panel is part of the range's main frame and does not come off. Turns out, 2 screws behind the fluorescent lamp had to be removed and the entire control panel housing lifts up and can be tilted forward. (I needed to clean behind the range anyway, so it was no big deal)!!
