This defrost heater melts frost buildup on the evaporator so your freezer or refrigerator can cycle normally and maintain proper cooling. It's a direct-replacement style heater that restores the appliance's automatic defrost function. What it does:

Heats the evaporator coil during the defrost cycle to remove ice buildup
Helps prevent poor cooling, frozen food, and excessive frost accumulation
Works with the appliance's defrost thermostat/timer or control board to run only during defrost cycles
Restores normal airflow by keeping the evaporator fins clear of ice
