This brake spring restores proper tension in the washer's transmission brake so the basket stops promptly and releases cleanly for spin. Replacing a fatigued or broken spring helps bring back smooth, reliable spin and stopping performance.
I replaced the: brake stator, rotor, and snubber ring. I did need to remove the stator which allowed the spring to decompress. I used 2 C-clamps to control the force when it was removed. To re-secure all the components I stood on the stator to compress the 200lbs spring until the screws could take the load safely. The entire thing took about an hour to slowly go through everything. This small strainer sits inside the washer's water inlet valve and screens out sand, rust, and sediment from the supply lines. Replacing a clogged or missing screen restores normal fill flow and helps protect the valve.
The machine would not run a full cycle before it cut off and had the code "FE" and water was too high. The water inlet valve needed to be replaced since it was letting in too much water at time. The repair was easy. Unplug machine and turn off cold water. Remove cold water line and drain water into bucket. Remove back two braces located at the top on each end of machine This will allow you to move top cove back about one inch. Pull back top cover about 1 inch then lift off cover. Remove... Read more

I followed the Appliance Parts Pro's advice videos for the Maytag MAV6451AWW Atlantis washer on replacing the snubber ring and the suspension springs. Everything went just fine except replacing the two rear most suspension springs. None of the videos illustrated REINSTALLING the REAR springs which is extremely difficult because you can't get enough leverage with your arm extended. Observing my frustration, my wife recommended taking off the back side. You can't simply take off the back,... Read more

I had a lot of problems removing the spin hub, I had to use an air impact wrench to un screw it even then it was very hard, it did not go easy with the hammer & pipe wrench as shown in the video. It was also very hard to remove the bottom spin bearing I had to cut the bearing retainer with a dremel tool so I could get my puller on it. After I struggled to get it apart The repair went very easy, I used brake spring pliers to remove the springs it worked like a charm. I am very pleased with... Read more
