Quite a challanging repair - as many components corroded. Tube spin seal rubber boot failed, water leaked into shielded bearing. Replaced Bearing (shielded, not sealed - shame on you Maytag... Grrr!) & Tub seal. Used heat gun + pipe wrench to seperate large plastic parts, Automotive pressurised gasket eliminator (like Cheese Whiz) used to replace all gaskets. Runs like new now. While trying to remove tub seal hub (which came off in six pieces I call it a "TOUGH" hub) I accidentally cracked the outside tub. I have received the new HT transmission which came with a new tub seal kit PN W102119156. I ordered a seal kit when I ordered the transmission not knowing it came with a tub seal. Checked screens on water inlet valve assembly. Both were clean. Checked power to solenoids on water inlet valve assembly. Both were good. Replace water valve assembly and tested. Cold and hot water both operated properly. Read more
Unscrewed hex screws in back, slid off top cover and lid, removed cracked cover, cleaned all exposed areas with bleach, placed on and hooked in tub cover. Replaced lid and screws and called it a day.. 10-15 minute repair Read more
I had a lot of problems removing the spin hub, I had to use an air impact wrench to un screw it even then it was very hard, it did not go easy with the hammer & pipe wrench as shown in the video. It was also very hard to remove the bottom spin bearing I had to cut the bearing retainer with a dremel tool so I could get my puller on it.
