Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Maytag altantis (2001) very loud during spin not spinning heavy loads   Ed C. • Victor , NY • September 29, 2014

Quite a challanging repair - as many components corroded. Tube spin seal rubber boot failed, water leaked into shielded bearing. Replaced Bearing (shielded, not sealed - shame on you Maytag... Grrr!) & Tub seal. Used heat gun + pipe wrench to seperate large plastic parts, Automotive pressurised gasket eliminator (like Cheese Whiz) used to replace all gaskets. Runs like new now. Note - Use a fish spring scale to measure spin drum tq (to verify Transmission drag clutch is OK). Measure the drum... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Bearings were worn out makeing a lot of noise   Lawrence L. • Largo , FL • August 08, 2015

I had a lot of problems removing the spin hub, I had to use an air impact wrench to un screw it even then it was very hard, it did not go easy with the hammer & pipe wrench as shown in the video. It was also very hard to remove the bottom spin bearing I had to cut the bearing retainer with a dremel tool so I could get my puller on it. After I struggled to get it apart The repair went very easy, I used brake spring pliers to remove the springs it worked like a charm. I am very pleased with... Read more
