I removed the front panel and observed the heating element while running the dryer. It was cycling off every minute or so and staying off for several minutes. Even though it was likely the high temp cycling thermostat I replaced both the 14, and 15 cycling thermostats which I think are the original factory units. That makes them nearly 35 years old. We took the dryer out of the laundry room and took it apart, after reviewing numerous videos at Appliance Parts Pros for direction. Removed front panel, front bulkhead and drum. Then removed exhaust duct, blower assembly and finally motor. (Use large flat blade screw-driver to press very hard down and out on motor mount to remove). Well by doing this I was able to find the source of my problem. What I thought was the heating coil not working right, ended up being the timer that was bad!!! Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Read more

I have a Maytag washer that is over 30 years old and still runs like a top. When the siphon break got destroyed in our move, I was able to find a replacement kit that fixed our problem. I ordered a new heating element and two other parts that attached to the heating element. I discovered a wire that broke off which caused the element not to work so I had to put a new female splicer on the broken wire then replaced the element and reattached the wires and everything worked. Weekend laundry became very noisy, our 1987 Whirlpool washer began doing a dance across the floor and the drum was banging into the inner cabinet. After doing some research and watching a few videos on Appliance parts pros website. At first i just bought the belt, started dryer and off came the belt, and yes it was in place,looking at the idler arm it had a lot off back and forth movement so i ordered the whole assembly but the spring which no one has.put it all together again but drum barely turned.. so back apart and belt was in place. took the idler spring out cut 4 loops off it re did the end so it would hook on idler arm.and that did the trick.runs like new.
