Foam insulation strip seals the dishwasher door perimeter to prevent leaks and moisture entry. Replace if compressed, torn, or causing water drips.
About a month ago, a sporadic drip was noticed on right hand bottom corner of dishwasher. Puddle would vary in size but nothing major. My first inclination was to change the door gasket (~$35 at a major online retailer) as this seemed reasonable to me and was a straightforward fix. Next wash cycle, no drip. However the drip returned the wash cycle after that, however this time at a different spot along the bottom of dishwasher door. I then replaced a deteriorated corner door seal (~$17... Read more

I called and talked to a customer service rep and she helped me troubleshoot the problem and order the correct part. She also sent me the pdf of the repair manual and I followed its instructions to replace the drain solenoid. It was a fairly easy repair. I wasn't sure if I would need the water level control switch, but I ordered it to be on the safe side. Turns out the original is still good. Read more

This past Tuesday as I was having my first cup of coffee, my wife says to me, "Would you like to start your day out with some bad news ?". Anyway, she tells me that our 15 year old Maytag dishwasher is "dead". This machine has been a "champ" at it's job, and "momma" has been very happy with it's service. And, it has been working, recently, just as good as the day we first used it. So, I started investigating. As background, I am a retired 68 year old (male) DIY'er. I was an Aviation... Read more

The foam was shot on the detergent cup lid. Hard as a rock. Causing caking problems, dribble down the inside wall of the door and leaving lumps of detergent. Cut the door in half wit aviation snips and pulled out the two halves. Discovered at this point that the spring had gone soft. Bought one ahead of time, so I was set. Put the spring on the left pin, put the spring pin in the door, slipped the door into place (open) and put the right pin in with pliers. Door snaps open now. Read more

Fix dishes not cleaning or low water pressure in your dishwasher. This nozzle jump up directs water to the spray arm. Easy 5-minute install, no tools needed.
I looked in the bottom of the dishwasher and saw that the center piece of the water wheel had somehow come loose. That center piece was lodged under the heating element and was now somewhat beaten and melted. We looked on line for an illustrated parts breakdown and found it on Appliance Parts Pros website. The diagram was so clear and straight forward that it was easy to see the part that we needed and another part (when we looked) we also found missing. Well, 3 days later the parts came in... Ordered the new o-rings for the pump housing and main filter screen unit. Cleaned all water hardness and other debris out of all parts. Fix dishwasher leaks or drainage issues with this flexible drain hose. Routes wastewater from pump to household drain. Moderate DIY repair, 1-2 hours.
Removed dishwasher to replace spray arm pine--I replaced washer on pipe, too, and would recommend doing this just on principal. Removing dishwasher requires disconnecting power, water, and drain line--tools will vary depending on connections. i replaced drain line because original install was not done correctly--hose too short--You could probably do just this w/o pulling unit. All parts arrived very quickly and fit correctly. Read more
