Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water leaking/dripping from door of bottom of dishwasher door   Dan R. • Norwalk , OH • September 22, 2014

About a month ago, a sporadic drip was noticed on right hand bottom corner of dishwasher. Puddle would vary in size but nothing major. My first inclination was to change the door gasket (~$35 at a major online retailer) as this seemed reasonable to me and was a straightforward fix. Next wash cycle, no drip. However the drip returned the wash cycle after that, however this time at a different spot along the bottom of dishwasher door. I then replaced a deteriorated corner door seal (~$17... Read more

Water Level Switch (Float)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP99002560

This water level switch senses the dishwasher's tub float and controls the water inlet. Replacing a worn switch restores correct filling, helping prevent overfilling or dry cycles that can reduce cleaning performance. What it does:

  • Monitors the float position to open/close the fill circuit at the proper water level
  • Common symptoms: dishwasher won't fill or stops filling too soon
  • May also cause continuous filling/overfill if contacts are stuck closed
  • Intermittent operation can leave the tub underfilled and washing performance poor

What's included:

  • 1 water level (float) switch

Install notes:

  • Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing
  • Remove the toe/kick panel to access the switch near the float assembly under the tub
  • Note wire positions; transfer connectors one at a time and secure the switch in its bracket
  • The float moves freely and actuates the switch before reassembly and testing

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Will not drain
  • Won't start
  • Will not fill with water

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher wouldn't drain   Ken S. • Columbus , OH • August 18, 2018

I called and talked to a customer service rep and she helped me troubleshoot the problem and order the correct part. She also sent me the pdf of the repair manual and I followed its instructions to replace the drain solenoid. It was a fairly easy repair. I wasn't sure if I would need the water level control switch, but I ordered it to be on the safe side. Turns out the original is still good. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Diswasher would not start no lights no go !   Peter W. • Wilmington , NC • November 24, 2014

This past Tuesday as I was having my first cup of coffee, my wife says to me, "Would you like to start your day out with some bad news ?". Anyway, she tells me that our 15 year old Maytag dishwasher is "dead". This machine has been a "champ" at it's job, and "momma" has been very happy with it's service. And, it has been working, recently, just as good as the day we first used it. So, I started investigating. As background, I am a retired 68 year old (male) DIY'er. I was an Aviation... Read more

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP99002003

This O-ring creates a watertight seal in your dishwasher's wash or drain system, helping prevent leaks and maintain proper water pressure. Replace a brittle, flattened, or damaged ring to restore a reliable, leak-free connection.

  • Helps stop drips and seepage caused by a worn or deformed seal

  • Replace if the old ring is cracked, cut, flattened, or hardened
What's included: 1 O-ring Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off the water supply before servicing
  • Place a towel or shallow pan to catch residual water
  • Clean the groove and mating surfaces; lightly moisten or use a manufacturer-approved lubricant to help the ring seat without pinching

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Problem with detergent cup lid.   John M. • Craig , CO • November 27, 2017

The foam was shot on the detergent cup lid. Hard as a rock. Causing caking problems, dribble down the inside wall of the door and leaving lumps of detergent. Cut the door in half wit aviation snips and pulled out the two halves. Discovered at this point that the spring had gone soft. Bought one ahead of time, so I was set. Put the spring on the left pin, put the spring pin in the door, slipped the door into place (open) and put the right pin in with pliers. Door snaps open now. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our dishwasher was not cleaning the dishes no water pressure it seemed   Melissa F. • Falls Church , VA • June 06, 2015

I looked in the bottom of the dishwasher and saw that the center piece of the water wheel had somehow come loose. That center piece was lodged under the heating element and was now somewhat beaten and melted. We looked on line for an illustrated parts breakdown and found it on Appliance Parts Pros website. The diagram was so clear and straight forward that it was easy to see the part that we needed and another part (when we looked) we also found missing. Well, 3 days later the parts came in... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leaking hose upper spray arm and drain hose replacement   Elizabeth D. • Afton , VA • May 19, 2015

Removed dishwasher to replace spray arm pine--I replaced washer on pipe, too, and would recommend doing this just on principal. Removing dishwasher requires disconnecting power, water, and drain line--tools will vary depending on connections. i replaced drain line because original install was not done correctly--hose too short--You could probably do just this w/o pulling unit. All parts arrived very quickly and fit correctly. Read more
