I read that replacing the latch may prevent my Maytag Dishwasher from stopping mid-cycle. I decided to also replace the latch-switch since I had it open. For my model, I only needed to remove the top 6 torx screws not the whole internal panel. Replaced the switch and latch in about 20 minutes (since I had never done this, I took it slow and easy). The new drain pump solved the problem and was also quieter than the one it replaced. I saw that many people removed the dishwasher from under the counter to make the repair. Not sure if it was easier, but I was able to do the repair through the kick plate opening. This saved me from having to get the unit positioned back in the exact same place, leveled, and all the sound insulation trim re-installed.
