This is a rubber or nylon washer that creates a watertight seal between the dishwasher's water supply hose and the faucet adapter connection. It prevents leaks at the point where the supply line attaches to the household faucet or water inlet valve. Replace this washer if you notice dripping or pooling water around the faucet connection when the dishwasher is running.

I first installed the inlet pump with no results. I then ordered a Control Switch and Float and Nut. This fixed the problem. Everything comes out so clean. Removed dishwasher to replace spray arm pine--I replaced washer on pipe, too, and would recommend doing this just on principal. Removing dishwasher requires disconnecting power, water, and drain line--tools will vary depending on connections. i replaced drain line because original install was not done correctly--hose too short--You could probably do just this w/o pulling unit.
