This was a Maytag DE312 actually a Whirlpool labeled as Maytag) and is 27 years old. Replaced motor, drive belt and drum rollers. One tricky part was the motor because the new motor comes with integral starter and it was necessary to cut off existing female spade connectors on some wires and crimp on new connectors. Deciding I had nothing to lose I decided to tear them apart. After locating the ApplianceParts Pros.com web site I watched videos on the most common problems and took a step by step approach to troubleshooting each of the units. The top one required a fan, shroud cleanup of the guide rollers and other maintenance. The lower unit needed a new motor, timer and clean up of the guide rollers. With the help of your videos and a few hundred dollars worth of parts I now have both units cleaned up... Read more
