However, after completing that repair I noticed that the terminal block and power cord had some damage from an apparent overheating while allowing the dryer to continue to run in order to dry the clothes. My son and I took the back panel off the dryer and found that the dryer was full of lint. It was very dirty and probably explains why the dryer had no been working as well. We cleaned the dryer out, took off the old air duct assembly and replaced it with the new one. We also replaced the old dryer hose while we had it pulled out. Open dryer door. Remove four Phillip head screws that hold lint assembly together. Two inside and two on the outside. There is also a hex head screw behind the front panel. To get at it I removed the four hex heads at bottom of front panel and four star head screws on left side of front panel. I was able to get at it by pulling the front panel out as much as possible and and reaching from the side with small quarter inch socket. Used the Wpl. Vent Kit, 4-way. This is not a quick, easy job. You have to disassemble the dryer, removing the entire front, door, drum, and control panel. Take your time and take pictures as you go so you can get it all back together again after installing the conversion kit. It will take you at least an hour, and you need room to work.
