This is a high limit thermostat that monitors the temperature inside the dryer's heating chamber and shuts off the heating element if temperatures exceed a safe threshold. It serves as a safety device to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards. Replace this thermostat if your dryer is not heating at all, shuts off prematurely, or if a multimeter test shows no continuity through the thermostat.
I don't have a multimeter so couldn't check all voltages or resistances on suspect parts. I assumed it had to be the two thermostat units - the thermostat or the dryer cycling thermostat. These were not expensive parts so ordered both and installed both. Very easy to remove back panel and replace with the new parts, making sure the OEM numbers were the same. Ordered a kit with new belt, rollers and idler pulley. Used instructions in kit, YouTube videos and instructions I found under the console of the dryer. Found that the idler pulley had frozen and that the belt was nearly worn through. Repair it self was not difficult. The problem I had was in hooking the new belt around the idler pulley. It was solved by removing the one screw holding the air discharge tube and sliding the tube rearwards. This allowed me to get my arm in behind the idler pulley... Read more

This relay is used on multiple types of appliances: Ranges, Cooktops, Wall Ovens, Washers and Dryers.
Troubleshooting was non-trivial. After determining the front-panel switch was not the problem, had to pull the unit out of the countertop slot, pull the top of the stove off to get to the relay area. Then swapped wires between suspected faulty relay and a relay that was still 'clicking' to confirm the fault. Then put everything back together so we could eat until receipt of the new part.
