This safety interlock switch prevents your range from operating when the door is open or not properly secured. It ensures the appliance only functions when it's safe to do so by detecting door position. Replace this switch when your range won't start even with the door closed, or continues running when the door is opened.
The endcaps are tricky to install. You have to be carefull and make sure you remove all the screws, otherwise you WILL break the clips that the screws hold on to in your new endcaps.I broke two, but fortunately they were the ones that end up hidden, and the piece still fits perfectly. Gas supply tube that connects the main gas line to the top burners on your range. Replace if cracked, damaged, or leaking to restore safe gas flow.
I pulled up a YouTube video of the Maytag repair for the part. After I had a visual of what to do, I took the door off the stove, removed the trim pieces in order to get the front cover off, then removed the broken trim piece the door handle attaches to, put the new part on (and it looks amazing!).
