After watching a number of videos and reading a lot of trouble-shooting discussions online I had ideas of what to look for as possible causes of the overfilling of the drum. Rubber grommet that seals where hoses pass through the washer cabinet. Replace if cracked, worn, or missing to prevent water leaks and damage.
Replace all hoses, cleaned filter and all elbows/inlet ports The repair could have been much quicker had all ( squeeze ) hose clamps be facing toward the front of the machine. Suggest checking and cleaning all elbows and external drain hose for gunk before buying any replacement parts. Read more

This is a small rubber o-ring that seals the drain pump filter cap on a front-load washer. It creates a watertight seal between the filter cap and the pump housing, preventing leaks during the wash and drain cycles.
