The Motor-Turn is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool microwaves. Located inside the microwave cavity on the turntable mechanism, the motor-turn contains the turntable motor and drive components.
Causes of a bad motor-turn can include a faulty motor, worn gears or pulleys, or broken turntable shaft.

After research on the internet I concluded that the problem was the turntable motor making the noise. The repair was relatively easy. Just a philips and a star screwdriver was needed. By simply romving the screws from the bottom of the microwave the turntable motor could be removed andvreplaced. The new motor fit perfectly and the grinding noise is gone. Read more
Opened the door and removed the set screw on the top left end of the door using a hex wrench. The door was easy to remove from the hinge after the set screw was removed. With the door removed I cleaned around the hinges and removed the years of grease build up. I put a few drops of 3:1 oil in the hinge holes to lubricate them. Finally I installed the new door. Done!
