Ice dispenser not working or jamming? This auger coupling connects the motor to the ice bin auger. Moderate DIY repair requires a wrench and hammer.
The ice dispenser auger is located in the freezer's ice compartment and moves ice from the storage bin to the dispenser chute. Replace it if ice jams frequently, dispenses slowly, or makes grinding noises during operation.
The manufacturer no longer makes the duel socket as shown in the photo. It has been replaced by a single socket

Remove rear dust panel and grill to expose compressor and fan. Three 1/4 bolts hold fan in place from rear, need to "reach around and feel" used a 1/4" ratchet but nut driver would work as well to remove old fan/bracket. Disconnect electrical connection. On new fan, push fan blade onto fan shaft. New fan comes with 3 mounting arms and rubber bushings. Ordered replacement kit from AppliancePartsPros. New part that was recommended did not look like the original (frig is a Maytag and new part comes in a Whirlpool bag). Chat support assured me it will work. Got it, and put it in per instruction, which was against my better judgement, as the top two wire colors were reversed on the instruction sheet, from what I had taken off. Sure enough, compressor wouldn't start and would stall and kick out the new overload. Reversed top two wires back... Read more
