After much troubleshooting & four parts later (2 electronic control boards & harness wire) it was the motor. The washing machine would start & run the 1st cycle & when it drained the motor sparked & the error message would appear. Approximately 10 minutes into a cycle each time. Read more
Tilted washer backward, supported with jack stands, removed 2 screws holding toe panel. There's a 4" PVC cap, which is actually the drain filter, unscrewed it and removed 2 years worth of garbage. Installed a new seal on drain filter, installed new leveling feet and closed everything back up. works like new..... Read more
I verified that there were no drain line obstructions. Checked the ohms across the pump motor. Ran the washer through the diagnostics test. Determined that the main control board must be the problem. Washer would run until the spin cycle. It would pump down and continue pumping even though there was no water. Would not advance to spin. It would time out and flash the nd code. I was able to get it to run by shutting it off, turning back on and selecting the spin only button. Thought I would try... Read more
Ultimately, I blew through the hose that attaches to the pressure switch. There was initially significant back pressure and then it blew free. Prior to this, I replaced the pressure switch, the main control board, and the pump. All of those were likely unneeded, but unfortunately no web links indicated this particular fix and Amana support was no help. To start my Maytag MAH8700AWW started making a thumping noise and was eating at the door boot seal. I started doing research and found some folks changed the shocks and springs but had no luck so I thought I would wait it out to see if it would get worse. I had to do this by myself and I knew the drum assembly is very heavy. I had watched a video online where they used a strap to hold up the drum. However, my drum had nothing to hook to. So, since I had the front and back off, I slid a 2x4 under the drum from front to back, supported the front of the 2x4, and then lifted the drum with a hydraulic floor jack from the back. Removed the top panel, control panel, front panel and door seal. Sensor is underneath the drum and pulls out of a rubber grommet. Replacing is the same process in reverse. Helpful hit is that a couple little dabs of dishsoap on the metal lip helps a ton when putting the door seal back on, wouldn't hurt putting some on the sensor when slipping it back into the grommet either.
