This is an orifice holder, sometimes referred to as a surface burner orifice holder. This part allows the gas to reach the burner so that the stove works for cooking on the stovetop. This part is compatible only with gas ranges.The user will need to replace this part if the orifice holder is bent, broken, or missing. It's possible the holder is damaged if the gas is not consistent or if the gas will not turn on at all. Always make sure to turn off the gas supply and double check that the oven is completely off before starting this repair. The user will need some tools for this repair including a screwdriver, a mounting screw, and sealing putty to make sure there is an airtight fit. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is sold individually. This part is compatible with machines from manufacturers like General Electric.
A word of caution - Due to not fully analyzing the situation upfront, I ultimately replaced more parts than necessary. So don't forget to check the spark module (the little electronic gadget that powers all the igniters), rather than jumping to the conclusion that the individual igniter or associated igniter cord is the problem (as I mistakenly did).
